A normal phone reports who you are and where you go through several channels at once. This series builds a travel kit that reduces that trail: four pieces of hardware, a privacy carrier and a short set of rules, with two network modes tested with the laptop on a real test network set up like a hostile hotel (IPv4 only; the phone's setup was not part of that test). It also says plainly what the kit does not do.

Start here, then work through the playlists: Start Here, The Build, Why This, Not That, Deep Dives and The Lab.

The kit reduces the signals that tie one person to the places they visit; it does not make anyone anonymous, and it is not built to protect a phone someone takes and unlocks. The Hardware Lab is a simulator: its results are practice, not proof.

What you’ll learn
