Beat the Captive Portal: Hotel Arrival Drill in Practice Mode
Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play. The video then plays in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. Everything on screen in the Hardware Lab is a training value.
A drill in the Communication Suite's Hardware Lab, in Practice mode with no hints: the Hotel arrival scenario. The router joins Hotel Guest, both endpoint VPNs drop, and both devices read Blocked · uplink until Login Mode opens. Switch the router to routed sharing (outer VPN off), open Login Mode for the laptop only with its other apps closed, and accept the training portal while the phone stays blocked. "Exposed · portal exception" is expected: it's an exposure window, not a guarantee that only portal traffic passes, and accepting the terms doesn't close it. Exit Login Mode, and readiness shows "Hotel session closed safely"; then put the router back on its profile and connect the laptop, then the phone, to 12 of 12. Simulated results, so check the actual tunnel state before normal use; the real-world routine is in B15.
What you’ll learn
- Run the hotel scenario without hints
- Read each traffic state
- Close the exposure window correctly

The honest limits
An exposure window is not a guarantee that only portal traffic passes. Simulated results: a model of a profile, not evidence of real leak protection, and real portals can behave differently.
