Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play. The video then plays in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. Everything on screen in the Hardware Lab is a training value.

Phase 2, part 1 of the Communication Suite build: the café trip. What to bring, the order on arrival (the laptop joins the café Wi-Fi, then the VPN goes on, before any browser), then the GrapheneOS install with the web installer: OEM unlocking, Fastboot Mode, a direct data cable, authorizing the Pixel in Chromium, unlocking, flashing, relocking the bootloader, and verifying the boot key. Demonstrated in the suite's Hardware Lab, so every screen is illustrative.

What you’ll learn

  • Pack and sequence the café trip
  • Install GrapheneOS with the web installer
  • Relock and verify the boot key

The honest limits

The lab's fingerprints and screens are training placeholders. Follow grapheneos.org's current instructions; installers change. SIM-unlocked alone doesn't prove the bootloader can be unlocked.

Check before you rely on it

These details change. Confirm them against the vendor’s current pages.

  • GrapheneOS web-installer flow and browser requirements.
  • Simulator screens are illustrative of the GrapheneOS installer, not a copy of it.
  • GrapheneOS supported-device list and which retail SKUs are bootloader-unlockable.
  • "7 years of security updates" depends on the Pixel model and Google's current policy.
  • GrapheneOS feature set and device support.
